HB 366 May Prevent Parents from Self-Selecting Advocates

HB 3466 is moving through the Texas legislature. This bill requires a training course for persons serving as special education representatives or advocates at an IEP. This may prevent parents from having a non-attorney legal representative at hearings. Currently, Hearing Officers have the final authority on determining qualifications. We urge you to review this bill and contact your legislators to ensure that parents are allowed to continue to bring the representation they need to hearings.
